A unique program that tackles ear health for Aboriginal and at-risk children in a bid to avoid permanent hearing damage and associated educational challenges will run in Newman for at least another year with an extension of funding from Deterra Royalties.
Deterra’s support to date has enabled the Earbus Foundation of WA to provide mobile one-stop-shop ear assessments for about 150 children across four schools, day care centres and early learning centres. That has included 357 ear screens, 201 hearing tests and 247 health checks.
